Privacy Policy

This policy describes what information Scaeno ("the app", "we") collects, how it's used, and how you can request its deletion. Scaeno is developed and operated by Hakan Arda Güven ("we", "us").

Information we collect

If you play as a guest, we create an anonymous account with no personal information — just a randomly generated ID, a randomly generated guest name, and your gameplay activity (see below).

If you create an account (sign up with email and password), we collect:

Email address — used to authenticate you and to let you recover your account. We do not use it for marketing.
Username — a display name you choose, shown publicly on leaderboards.
Profile photo (optional) — if you choose to upload one, it's stored and shown as your avatar, including to other players on leaderboards.
Password — stored in hashed form by our backend provider (Supabase); we never see or store your plaintext password.

Gameplay data, for both guests and members:

Quiz sessions, round results, scores, and time taken.
Achievement and streak progress.
Your chosen difficulty mode.

This gameplay data is used to run the game itself (scoring, hints, session state), to show your stats and achievements, and — for members who opt into ranked play — to populate leaderboards.

Content source

Scaeno uses The Movie Database (TMDB) as its source of movie and TV series images and metadata. We do not send your personal information to TMDB — we only fetch public movie/show data from their API to build quiz rounds.

This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.

How your data is stored and shared

Your data is stored with our backend provider, Supabase (database, authentication, and file storage), which processes it on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) between the app and our backend.

Your choices and rights

Guest play: no account or personal information is required to play in Easy mode.
Access: you can view your stats, achievements, and profile information in-app at any time.
Correction: you can change your username, password, and profile photo at any time from Settings.
Deletion: you can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings → Delete Account in the app — see Account & Data Deletion for details.

Children's privacy

Scaeno is not directed at children under 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your region), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at trustsoftwareapp@gmail.com and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
